Don't forget to make sure your passport is current. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your return date, though six months is advised. If you need to apply for a new passport, we recommend you start your application process right away. It can take about two months to receive your passport after completing the process. In order to rent and drive a car while in Italy, you will need an International Driving Permit. This requires that you mail the documentation or visit a AAA location in person within six months of your travel. You will need two original passport pictures and a valid U.S. driver's license. You can find more information and download the required forms on the AAA website.
We recommend flying into Naples International Airport, which is about an hour drive from Ravello. Alternatively, you could fly into Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Rome, which is a 3.5 hour drive from Ravello, but may have more flight options.
For those renting a car, please keep in mind that cars are not allowed within Ravello's town limits. There is limited paid parking on the edge of town and many hotels and B&Bs have parking options.
